The following local residents made the Spring 2017 Dean's List at Georgia Southwestern State University and were among 549 students recognized for scholastic achievement.

More than 300 students were honored at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business Honors Day at Georgia State University, held March 30, 2017.

More than 155 undergraduate students presented their research at the Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSURC) on Tuesday, April 11. Students from a wide variety of disciplines shared their findings through oral presentations, posters, artistic displays and musical performances.

Students participating in the STEM Research Conference gain initial exposure to research, develop confidence in scientific communication, network, and receive constructive feedback from the University community.

Kennesaw State University congratulates the nearly 6,000 students who were named to the Fall 2016 Dean's List. Students named to the Dean's List were enrolled in at least 9 credit hours of courses and earned a grade point average of at least 3.5.

Kennesaw State University recently named students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Fall 2016 semester. The Kennesaw State students were honored by President Samuel S. Olens for earning top marks.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must earn a 3.50 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

Hundreds of students at Georgia State University's Perimeter College earned associate's degrees in December 2016.

A total of 11,758 students enrolled during the 2016 fall semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

The 25th annual Georgia Southern Fall 2016 Commencement Ceremony represented a momentous day as approximately 1,700 of Georgia's best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students received degrees from the University's eight colleges. Approximately 400 graduate degrees were conferred, while around 1,300 undergraduate students received degrees.

The following students have earned the distinction of Dean's List at the Georgia Institute of Technology for Fall 2016.

The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 3,200 undergraduate and graduate students during the Institute's 252nd Commencement exercises on December 16-17, 2016, at the McCamish Pavilion.

Approximately 2,253 students have made the Fall Semester 2016 Dean's List for academic achievement at Coastal Carolina University.

The University of North Georgia awarded more than 800 degrees for the fall 2016 semester, including hundreds awarded in commencement exercises held Dec. 16-17 at the university. "We are here to honor you with the richest tradition in the academic community - a commencement ceremony," UNG President Bonita Jacobs said before conferring degrees. "We all know what it took for you to reach this moment. We know that, as graduates of UNG, you will add meaning and value to the lives of those around you. Our hopes and dreams are with you. Congratulations on this important milestone."

The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for fall 2016. Dean's List recognition is achieved by having a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

More than 2,450 students graduated from Kennesaw State University, Dec. 13 - 14, 2016 in three fall commencement ceremonies.

In total, 34 UNG cadets are ranked in the top 20 percent in the nation among more than 5,000 Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) cadets assessed by U.S. Army Cadet Command, which earns them the designation of Distinguished Military Graduate.

These Georgia State University College of Law students provided 1,493.1 hours of pro bono service, a high distinction. The College of Law's Pro Bono Recognition Program is designed to encourage students to engage in such activities while in law school and thus conduct themselves in accordance with the highest values and standards of the legal profession. The Class of 2016 provided 12,850.1 hours in pro bono service through April 8, 2016.

Kennesaw State University recently named students to the President's List, in recognition of their academic excellence in the Summer 2016 semester. The Kennesaw State students were honored by Interim President Houston D. Davis for earning top marks.
